"…sensitive pianism illuminated with unfailing vitality and character”
Rupert Christiansen, critic at Daily Telegraph.
Italian pianist Giacomo Tora recently gained international attention with his debut album, Hommage à BACH, and his sold-out debut at Pianissimo Festival. His performances have been praised by critics, with Dmitry Morozov of Gazeta Igraem describing him as "a well-established musician with a magnificent piano apparatus and a bright personality."
"He equally harmoniously and insightfully represents the Baroque era, the Romantics, and modernists. In his playing, one can see the geometry of their compositions," wrote Ekaterina Belyaeva in Del’Arte Magazine.
As a young artist, Giacomo Tora has already performed in many prestigious venues across Europe, including Teatro del Bibiena, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Auditorium Joseph Kosma, the State Hermitage Museum, Holywell Music Room, Steinway Hall, and Auditorium Monteverdi, among others. He has also been invited to give solo recitals at major festivals such as the XXXV International Chamber Music Festival 'Umbria Classica', the Keyboard & Voice Festival at the Old Royal Naval College and Blackheath Halls, and the Pianissimo Festival.
In addition to his concert appearances, he was awarded the RTPF Prize at the Sheepdrove Intercollegiate Piano Competition UK, and he is also the prize-winner of several piano competitions in Italy, Spain, and the UK.
He studied with Roberta Bambace in Italy and Deniz Arman Gelenbe in London, where he also received coaching from Martino Tirimo, Mikhail Kazakevich, and Sergio De Simone. Additionally, he attended masterclasses with Pascal Rogé, Bruno Canino and Françoise Thinat.
Giacomo Tora has been supported by the Charles Haimoff Foundation, Alfred & Therese Kitchin, Trinity College London, and the Robert Turnbull Piano Foundation.

'Hommage à BACH' is Giacomo Tora debut album as recording artist, in which listeners are invited to embark on an exploration of Bach's works in the Italian style interlaced with a selection of Chopin's Preludes. In his work, Giacomo meticulously positioned each major piece a third away, connecting four different sound worlds by their chromatic mediant.
"Through sensitive pianism illuminated with unfailing vitality and character, Giacomo Tora has brought two of the greatest composers for the keyboard into a fresh conversation that proves both richly subtle and delicately surprising."
Rupert Christiansen, music critic for the Daily Telegraph and UK and Europe Director of the Robert Turnbull Piano Foundation.
